Classically Modern Magazine Becomes Successful Marketing Tool for Excelsior Designs

October 2006, North Amityville, NY-Excelsior Designs, an upscale producer of Italian-made contemporary furniture, recently completed the latest issue of their highly successful consumer magazine. Called Classically Modern, it targets those drawn to a more contemporary style of living. Stories offer useful design ideas, the latest information on current decorating trends, as well as beautiful photography highlighting many of Excelsior's best-selling furniture pieces.

The current issue features an interview with fashion designer-turned-furniture designer Nicole Miller. Miller recently collaborated with Excelsior Designs to create a new line of furniture that bears her name, and the article shares some of her design inspirations for the collection.

Italian lifestyle is the magazine's underlying theme, and each issue includes editorials that educate readers on the country's best travel locations, historic sites, and even Italian cuisine.

The magazine also contains articles from guest columnists who provide professional design expertise. Bobbie Burns Hughes, design director for Excelsior Designs, award winning furniture designer Jim DiPersia, and Diane Burley, executive editor of the online magazine purecontemporary.com are contributors for the new issue. Classically Modern will be distributed to retailers at the October High Point Market; consumers will begin receiving the publication at the end of the year.

The 28-page magazine is produced by Lexington, NC-based The Media Matters, Inc., and is in its third year of publication. Kathy Wall, president of The Media Matters, is the magazine's editor.

Excelsior Designs maintains four consumer web sites. A newly redesigned site, www.excelsiordesigns.com debuted several months ago. The Nicole Miller Collection has its own comprehensive site, www.nicolemillerfurniture.com. Slated to launch later this month is a new site to support the company's extensive leather upholstery line, www.casanovalia.com. A fourth site, www.classicallymodern.com provides an online library of articles from the magazine. All four sites have links to and from the others. Consumers contacting the company through these websites or their toll-free number can receive a free copy of the magazine as well as the name and location of an authorized dealer in their area. The publication is also available at a minimal cost to dealers for their direct-mail marketing efforts.
